Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable API-first and event-driven architectures for real-time system communication.
- Architect RESTful/gRPC APIs, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven workflows across distributed systems.
- Define and enforce data contracts, schemas, and interface standards for reliable cross-domain data exchange.
- Design resilient distributed systems that handle retries, replays, duplicate processing, and failures.
- Modernize legacy integrations by reducing point-to-point dependencies and enabling loosely coupled architectures.
- Establish API lifecycle management practices covering versioning, documentation, security, and governance.
- Lead design reviews, mentor engineering teams, and promote consistent adoption of integration patterns.
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing scalable integration solutions across distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of API-based system design and synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging concepts in real-world applications.
- Experience defining and managing interfaces or data exchange patterns across systems.
- Understanding of distributed-system reliability, including failures, retries, and duplicate processing.
- Experience working across legacy and modern systems in complex enterprise environments.
- Proficiency in backend or service-based development using Java, Python, or similar languages.
- Experience with API management platforms or gateways such as Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Management is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with messaging or streaming platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub is preferred.
- Familiarity with domain-driven design, contract-first APIs, schema-driven development, cloud-native architectures, and distributed-system patterns is preferred.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and participation in architecture governance processes are preferred.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional are preferred.
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science or a related field is required.
