Responsibilities
- Architect and develop composable, production-ready Android UI components using Jetpack Compose and XML views when necessary.
- Shape, develop, and maintain open-source Universal Components Android SDKs and client libraries.
- Write and curate tutorials, guides, sample applications, and API documentation.
- Engage with the open-source developer community and provide technical assistance and domain expertise.
- Conduct code reviews and uphold UI testing and quality standards across mobile libraries.
- Represent Okta at conferences, technology events, community forums, and through technical publications.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex client-library issues while modernizing Android architecture and platform practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in native Android development using Kotlin and Java.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building production interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
- Ability to translate design mocks such as Figma designs into clean, modular, and accessible Compose code.
- Experience developing reusable Android UI libraries, SDKs, or widely used application architectures.
- Deep understanding of Android frameworks, core architecture components, and the broader Android ecosystem.
- Experience deploying applications to the Google Play Store or publishing packages and libraries to repositories such as Maven Central.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD platforms and automated UI and unit testing in continuous integration environments.
- Strong mobile application debugging and maintenance experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience authoring developer documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a globally distributed team.
- Experience with design systems, iOS development, cross-platform architectures, open-source contributions, identity and access management, or remote distributed engineering teams is a plus.
