Responsibilities
- Design and develop horizontally scalable distributed backend systems and microservices, primarily in Clojure.
- Set technical direction across multiple teams and align work with business areas and architecture strategies.
- Drive pragmatic innovation and resilient solutions that scale across products and geographies.
- Mentor engineers, including senior engineers, and raise the organization-wide technical bar.
- Write, test, instrument, document, review, and maintain software across team services.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to build new customer experiences.
- Ensure comprehensive observability, performance monitoring, and error handling.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents.
- Contribute to mobile and frontend development when business needs require it.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience developing digital products in complex environments.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies.
- Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale systems serving thousands or millions of users.
- Strong background in object-oriented or functional programming languages and the ability to work across multiple languages.
- Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams without direct authority.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising technical standards across organizations.
- Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies and prior CI/CD experience.
- Strong communication skills for explaining risks and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced English skills.
