Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead software architecture design and develop and integrate complex features for government platforms.
- Create radio-control software architectures using extensive knowledge of military waveforms.
- Capture, analyze, decompose, translate, and create requirements for high-complexity systems and clean-sheet designs.
- Prepare or review technical proposals and participate in internal, customer, peer, and design reviews.
- Develop and maintain incremental team plans covering program milestones, scope, schedule, and budget.
- Provide hands-on embedded systems and hosted application software development, including real-time multithreaded applications.
- Mentor and lead junior engineers, identify technical knowledge gaps, and create training to address them.
- Present technical information to internal and external stakeholders, customers, senior management, and engineering leadership.
- Ensure development teams comply with applicable certification requirements and customer, business-unit, and Collins requirements.
- Lead continuous-improvement projects and support software engineering process and strategy development.
- Travel domestically up to 10%.
Requirements
- Typically requires a STEM degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced related degree and at least 5 years of experience.
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance; the posting states that an active Secret clearance is required after day 1.
- Must meet U.S. citizenship and security-investigation eligibility requirements.
- Experience presenting technical data to senior management and advising senior leadership on strategic technical imperatives.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers and improving software engineering processes.
- Experience with engineering tools such as JAMA, DOORS, ALM, or JIRA.
- Preferred experience includes Control Account Management, surveillance standards, DO-178 DAL-C, Pro Line Fusion Display, MIL-STD-1553B, Ethernet/TCP/UDP, and military radio or surveillance systems.
- Preferred software development experience in C, C++, or Java and experience with Department of Defense or military applications.
- Preferred familiarity with software development lifecycle models, Model Based Systems Engineering, and tools such as MagicDraw CAMEO or Enterprise Architect.
- Preferred bid and technical proposal preparation experience and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and engineering and program leadership.
