Responsibilities
- Enable and maintain USB host, device, and dual-role functionality on a 64-bit RISC-V MPU Linux platform.
- Bring up USB controllers, PHYs, clocks, resets, interrupts, Device Tree bindings, power management, suspend/resume, and performance tuning.
- Develop and debug USB drivers and related USB core, hub, gadget, and class-driver subsystems.
- Validate enumeration, throughput, latency, storage and networking classes, hot-plug reliability, and USB interoperability.
- Deliver USB-ready SDK releases with integration, regression validation, documentation, and debugging guides.
- Create automated USB validation plans, applications, and tests for virtual platforms, emulation, FPGA, and first silicon.
- Debug and root-cause hardware, firmware, and kernel issues using logs, traces, JTAG, and logic or protocol analyzers.
- Own USB feature planning, compliance goals, bring-up milestones, stakeholder alignment, bug triage, and release readiness.
- Support OEMs, Tier-1 customers, early adopters, and upstream kernel, Device Tree, and test-collateral contributions.
Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8–15 years of experience in embedded Linux platform/BSP and device-driver development.
- Expert-level C programming and the ability to modify kernel, driver, and low-level firmware code.
- Strong Linux internals knowledge, including boot flow, memory and interrupt subsystems, concurrency, and performance debugging.
- Hands-on SoC/platform bring-up and high-speed I/O enablement experience.
- Experience with U-Boot, Linux kernel, Device Tree, Yocto/OpenEmbedded, and USB integration in BSP or SDK releases.
- Strong debugging skills with GDB and at least one of OpenOCD/JTAG, Lauterbach, or a similar tool.
- Experience with FPGA, emulation, or early-silicon platforms for bring-up and validation.
- Deep USB 2/USB 3 and Linux USB architecture knowledge, including usbcore, HCD, and the gadget framework.
- Experience with USB compliance/interoperability testing, post-silicon triage, and USB performance or link-stability analysis is preferred.
- Exposure to USB Type-C/PD, retimers, DisplayPort Alt Modes, QEMU, virtual platforms, emulation workflows, and automated Python or shell validation frameworks is preferred.
- Familiarity with USB-related platform security boundaries, secure boot, firmware/OS boundaries, and attack-surface considerations is preferred.
Benefits
- Opportunity to build a RISC-V MPU platform from the ground up and see it shipped in real products.
- End-to-end ownership from pre-silicon through FPGA, first silicon, and production SDK releases.
- Close collaboration with CPU architects and SoC teams on a strategic platform.
- Deep technical work, a strong peer group, and long-term growth.
