Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and operate secure, scalable, resilient, cloud-native Java backend systems.
  • Develop production-quality code, review and debug code written by others, and troubleshoot complex technical problems.
  • Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve application and system operational stability.
  • Lead evaluations of external vendors, startups, and internal architectural solutions.
  • Drive team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices for coding, code review, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Establish validation standards for AI-generated outputs, including secure coding, peer review, automated testing, correctness, performance, and security.
  • Lead software engineering communities of practice and promote adoption of emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in Java and practical AWS experience.
  • Experience with automation, continuous delivery, and the full Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Strong understanding of application resiliency, security, and agile software engineering practices.
  • Experience leading the safe and responsible use of AI-assisted software development tools, including coaching engineers on validation, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs and outputs.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and managing containerized applications with Kubernetes.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
  • Preferred: Copilot skills, AWS Solutions Architect certification, and familiarity with Spring Boot.
