Base Salary
$193k - $303k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the data graph, entity resolution, buying intent, and agent context across multiple teams.
- Frame and ship new machine learning problems involving messy data, semantic intent, and web-scale extraction.
- Define evaluation standards using sampling methodology, human labels, validated LLM judges, and release gates.
- Define data contracts between the data graph, intent signals, and agents, including cost-effective agent memory.
- Establish group-wide baselines, uncertainty reporting practices, and reliable metrics.
- Lead design reviews, mentor senior engineers, shape hiring, and represent the team’s technical judgment to product and leadership.
Requirements
- Set technical direction as an individual contributor for a cross-team problem area with machine learning systems running in production and owned after launch.
- Demonstrate breadth across classical machine learning on large tabular data, applied statistics, language processing at scale, and LLM agents or multi-step systems, with recognized depth in at least one area.
- Have driven adoption of evaluation standards for systems without a single right answer, including LLM judges validated against human labels.
- Show a track record of changing how teams build or measure systems through standards, baselines, or review practices.
- Have made model training and serving cost and capacity decisions, including self-hosting, distillation, and hosted model usage.
- Be hands-on with production Python, strong SQL, distributed data processing, and rigorous daily use of AI coding tools.
- Preferred: experience with ranking and retrieval, embeddings, learned re-ranking, recall@k, MRR, and nDCG.
- Preferred: experience with entity resolution, knowledge graphs, or web-scale information extraction on messy real-world data.
- Preferred: experience training and serving open-weight models in PyTorch or an equivalent framework, including GPU capacity planning.
- Preferred: experience building user memory or context systems for agents or defending LLM systems against adversarial inputs and prompt injection.
