Responsibilities
- Lead technical execution for the Continuous Delivery platform by decomposing architecture into deliverable work and driving quality delivery.
- Solve high-complexity engineering problems and provide architectural feedback that shapes system evolution.
- Maintain the technical bar through code review, mentorship, and example.
- Mentor engineers at all levels and help them develop their technical capabilities.
- Represent the CD team in cross-functional engineering discussions and contribute to technical proposals and architectural documents.
- Participate in on-call rotations to help maintain GitLab.com availability targets.
Requirements
- Deep professional experience building backend services in Go in high-scale production environments.
- Expertise in distributed systems, including durable workflow execution, state persistence, and event-driven architectures.
- Extensive experience with release orchestration, deployment automation, or continuous delivery systems at scale.
- Extensive hands-on production-scale experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including blue/green and canary deployments.
- Strong familiarity with GitOps workflows and ecosystem tools.
- Experience with policy-based governance in software delivery systems.
- Ability to translate complex architecture into executable engineering work across a team.
- Experience incorporating AI tools into daily engineering workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with documentation-first practices.
- Experience with AI engineering or AI-integrated product features is preferred.
- Ruby on Rails experience is preferred.
