Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and integration of complex software components for operationally critical and safety-critical railway signaling systems.
- Define, maintain, and govern software architecture and lead architecture strategies throughout the product and project lifecycle.
- Design, code, debug, test, review, and troubleshoot software in laboratory and field environments.
- Analyze customer and lifecycle requirements using studies, simulations, prototypes, models, and engineering analysis.
- Contribute to mission and functional definition, algorithm design, requirements refinement, and system-software consistency.
- Lead design reviews and ensure adherence to software development plans, standards, secure coding practices, quality standards, and software reuse policies.
- Develop software cost estimates, assess technical risks, and support bid and tendering activities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and processes to improve software development practices.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, training, and guidance to software engineering teams.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in urban rail signaling systems and software design, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Expert knowledge of software architecture, software engineering principles, requirements engineering, railway signaling systems, and SelTrac CBTC technology.
- Expert-level experience developing mission-critical and near-real-time software systems.
- At least 3 years of experience in test automation.
- At least 1 year of experience with AI frameworks and large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or MCP Servers.
- Expert-level C/C++ proficiency, including STL, Boost, MFC, templates, and advanced object-oriented programming.
- Experience with Perl, Ruby, multithreading, socket programming, and Windows-based software development.
- Experience with Git, Jira, Eclipse, ClearCase, ClearQuest, DOORS, Jenkins, Docker, and AWS.
- Experience leading software development processes involving continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, verbal communication, and written English skills.
- Preferred: Professional Engineer designation, embedded systems experience, and experience with Java, C#, Python, and Assembly.
- Preferred: Experience with modelling and simulation, Windows, Linux, Unix, Angular, TypeScript, WebSockets, Java-based backend development, gmake, MSBuild, control theory, graph theory, and CENELEC railway standards.
- Preferred: Experience in Automatic Train Protection and Automatic Train Operation environments.
