Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, diagnosis, and resolution of deployed imaging systems across software, firmware, networking, and hardware.
- Build and maintain reliable, observable, and maintainable production services for edge-compute devices.
- Support field operators and non-technical users in diagnosing and resolving deployed hardware issues.
- Represent the team as a technical subject matter expert during external product and customer integrations.
- Develop end-to-end understanding of hardware, firmware, networking, and software interactions and improve graceful degradation.
- Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and platform engineers to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
- Travel approximately 15% for field testing and customer integrations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with meaningful production ownership after deployment.
- 5+ years working in Linux-based environments, including bare-metal hardware.
- Strong Python and C++ skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across networking, services, and hardware interactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
- Preferred: experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks, Linux service management and observability, React/JSX, Nix or NixOS, and fielded or deployed systems.
