Base Salary

$58k - $105k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers and customers to identify software requirements and evaluate design approaches.
  • Translate mission needs into technical requirements, demonstrate software capabilities, and incorporate customer feedback.
  • Design and develop maintainable software applications, services, data pipelines, and user interfaces.
  • Develop Python software for data processing, analytics, hardware integration, automation, and testing.
  • Build and integrate web-based and desktop interfaces for system configuration, data visualization, and operational monitoring.
  • Implement, test, integrate, and verify software against functionality, reliability, performance, and usability requirements.
  • Create engineering documentation, interface control documents, software requirements specifications, test procedures, and user documentation.
  • Coordinate development work, design changes, feature priorities, bug fixes, and customer feedback.
  • Support laboratory, field, and at-sea prototype testing, including troubleshooting software, hardware interfaces, and data flows.
  • Present technical concepts, development progress, test results, and product demonstrations to customers and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Relevant professional, internship, academic, or project experience developing and integrating software applications.
  • Proficiency in Python for applications, automation tools, data processing, or hardware-control software.
  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating REST APIs.
  • Proficiency with software version-control processes and tools such as Git and GitHub.
  • Working knowledge of Linux command-line tools and shell scripting.
  • Experience testing and debugging software integrating multiple data sources, services, or hardware components.
  • Ability to work across multiple software-development lifecycle phases within a small multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to interact directly with customers, gather requirements, communicate tradeoffs, demonstrate software, and respond to feedback.
  • Ability to understand complex technical documents and communicate technical ideas in writing, orally, and visually.
  • Preferred qualifications include C++, embedded or electro-mechanical system integration, modular test architectures, telemetry and external web-service integration, dashboards and data visualizations, test and build automation, static analysis, continuous integration, communications protocols, embedded test equipment, and field or at-sea integration testing.
  • Experience with government, defense, or technical customers and the ability to work independently with changing priorities are preferred.
