Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain an integrated Data Studio development environment for data exploration, analytics, and development.
- Build interactive tools including Jupyter Notebook, SQL editors, query consoles, and data exploration experiences.
- Integrate Data Studio with distributed data and compute platforms such as Spark, Hadoop, Flink, and cloud-native services.
- Develop backend services and APIs for workspace, session, compute, and resource lifecycle management.
- Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, security, and developer experience.
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, and data scientists to deliver self-service data capabilities.
- Use AI coding agents effectively by providing context, specifications, constraints, and validation criteria.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience using Java, Python, or similar languages.
- 5+ years of experience with Jupyter, SQL development environments, data exploration tools, or similar developer platforms.
- Experience with distributed data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Flink, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and production platform engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to build production-grade software with AI coding agents while maintaining quality, availability, and maintainability.
- Hands-on experience delivering complex production software with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
- Ability to document business, architecture, codebase, and operational knowledge so AI coding agents can execute complex tasks accurately and autonomously.
- Experience building internal developer or data platforms is preferred.
- Deep understanding of distributed scheduling systems such as Airflow is preferred.
