Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, procure, maintain, and deploy ground-segment systems.
- Develop automation tools to streamline and optimize mission operations.
- Scale the mission-control ecosystem for new missions and evolving operational needs, including make-or-buy analyses and proposal contributions.
- Integrate software components within virtual infrastructure and interface them with spacecraft systems and external ground elements.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, configurations, and end-to-end validation of communication and control links.
- Support CI/CD activities across the ground segment.
- Develop, test, and validate operational procedures and participate in training and mission rehearsals for on-console certification.
- Own Ground-to-Ground Interface Control Documents and contribute to Space-to-Ground Interface Control Documents.
- Support on-console operations, including 24/7 shift work and on-call duties during critical mission phases.
- Collaborate with IT to maintain security, data protection, policy, and certification compliance for the Mission Control Center and ground segment.
Requirements
- Professional-level written and verbal English is required.
- Business-level Japanese is a plus for non-Japanese candidates.
- At least 3 years of experience in ground operations for space missions, including LEO, MEO, or deep-space missions.
- Experience with SIL, PIL, HIL, or mixed hardware-software environments.
- Proficiency with Python and Bash.
- Strong expertise with CI/CD tools such as Ansible and GitLab.
- Solid knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Ability to plan and execute complex technical work with little oversight.
- Experience with mission control systems such as Yamcs and Grafana is preferred.
- Familiarity with CCSDS protocols, telemetry processing, and commanding chains is preferred.
- Full-stack engineering experience developing high-availability production tools is preferred.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including SQL, MongoDB, and Influx, is preferred.
- Familiarity with network protocols and tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with AWS tools is preferred.
- Space-industry experience is preferred.
