Base Salary
$145k - $165k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own feature development from technical design through delivery.
- Contribute to architecture decisions involving data modeling, service boundaries, API design, and background processing.
- Write performant, idiomatic, production-quality Ruby code.
- Improve code quality, performance, reliability, and developer experience.
- Guide Software Engineers I and II through code reviews, pairing, and design feedback.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA on technical decisions and implementation.
- Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, root-cause analysis, and systemic improvements.
- Document technical decisions, data models, and service patterns.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful Ruby on Rails development.
- Experience delivering complex software features and translating ambiguous requirements into technical plans.
- Exposure to large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems serving millions of users in real time.
- Advanced Ruby on Rails proficiency and strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, query optimization, migrations, and performance analysis.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs within Rails.
- Experience with RSpec or Minitest and unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
- Familiarity with Sidekiq or similar background job processing, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
- Ability to work autonomously, give and receive technical feedback, communicate effectively in writing, and balance technical work with collaboration.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with AI-assisted and agentic coding tools, Go, remote engineering organizations, and incident response.
- Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
