Responsibilities
- Define long-term technical roadmaps and architectural patterns spanning backend services, APIs, and client-side integrations for messaging, notifications, personalization, and experimentation.
- Design and implement resilient, low-latency microservices, data models, API contracts, React/TypeScript components, and client SDKs.
- Make end-to-end architectural decisions balancing experimentation, client rendering performance, distributed-systems reliability, data consistency, security, and accessibility.
- Partner with Product Managers, Design, Data Engineering, and product engineering teams across Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian products.
- Coach and mentor senior and mid-level engineers and lead system and architecture design reviews.
- Champion telemetry, observability, distributed tracing, server telemetry, client-side metrics, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in modern client-side/frontend architecture and development.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on proficiency with React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, HTML5, and modern CSS architectures.
- Experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer or Technical Lead designing and owning frontend architecture for large-scale, high-traffic SaaS applications.
- Deep browser and client-systems expertise, including Core Web Vitals, bundle splitting, memory lifecycle, rendering pipelines, and client-side state management.
- Experience writing architecture proposals, establishing technical roadmaps, setting engineering quality standards, and making technical strategy trade-offs across multiple teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and partnering with Product Management, Design, and Backend stakeholders without formal authority.
