Responsibilities
- Design and build fault-tolerant backend systems handling millions of real-time messages from collars and towers.
- Scale infrastructure for device growth and global expansion using AWS-native messaging and streaming tools.
- Improve reliability, observability, and fault tolerance across the messaging and network stack.
- Lead cross-functional troubleshooting with firmware, hardware, and product teams to identify and resolve complex bugs.
- Own technical projects from scoping and specification through task distribution and progress communication.
- Build reliable automation for zero-touch collar and tower deployments.
- Mentor teammates and guide technical direction for protocols and infrastructure at scale.
Requirements
- Seasoned backend engineer with experience scaling distributed systems in production.
- Fluency in AWS or experience with other modern cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Terraform, load testing frameworks, and chaos engineering practices.
- Experience with MQTT, TCP/IP, and cloud-native messaging systems such as Kinesis and SNS/SQS.
- Strong debugging skills, deep understanding of system behavior, and data-driven decision-making.
- Comfort owning high-uptime systems.
- Experience with LoRa is a preferred bonus.
- Collaborative, growth-minded approach to working with teammates and moving quickly.
