Responsibilities
- Own the shared task-level architecture for autonomous behaviors.
- Define module boundaries and responsibilities for behavior orchestration and factor out common logic across tasks.
- Implement component tests and telemetry and metrics collection pipelines.
- Identify technical debt and guide the team toward sustainable architectural solutions.
- Set software-quality standards for modern C++ and Python, including code structure, error handling, and robustness.
- Design extensible, testable policy-deployment tooling with schema versioning for observations.
- Provide technical leadership for C++ and Python tooling, including clang-tidy, sanitizers, static analysis, linting, typing, and test setup.
- Unify training, benchmarking, and evaluation tooling across autonomy tasks with the simulation team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience developing complex C++ systems.
- Deep knowledge of modern C++ 17 and later.
- Strong Python skills for tooling, configuration, and simulation-side scripting.
- Strong experience designing large, modular software systems that outlived their first use case.
- High standards for software quality and long-term maintainability.
- Experience with behavior trees, state machines, or other production task-orchestration frameworks is preferred.
- Experience deploying and versioning learned controllers and managing observation pipelines in production is preferred.
- Experience with motion planning, geometric algorithms, or spatial data structures is preferred.
- Experience with feature-flagged deployments, staged rollouts, or long-lived platforms is preferred.
