Base Salary
$170k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build integrations between Axle Health’s platform and EHR and EMR systems, including legacy systems with inconsistent APIs and limited documentation.
- Own integration projects end to end by scoping work, making technical decisions, driving launches, and providing ongoing production support.
- Investigate customer-reported issues across Axle Health’s systems and external systems, identify root causes, and execute resolution plans.
- Coordinate directly with EHR vendors’ and partners’ technical teams to resolve documentation and integration issues.
- Sequence integration work, set milestones, and keep Engineering, Professional Services, and Product Management informed of progress and risks.
- Build scalable backend services handling data for hundreds of thousands of patients while maintaining data integrity, security, and uptime.
- Develop monitoring and failure-handling systems for unpredictable external integrations.
- Maintain code quality through reviews and document integration knowledge for the broader team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including end-to-end ownership of integrations with external or legacy systems from build through production support.
- Demonstrated ability to scope projects, make technical decisions, and drive work to completion with significant autonomy.
- Ability to investigate customer-reported issues and explain problems, plans, and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience architecting scalable, performant, and secure systems.
- Experience working at a fast-paced startup or growth-stage company.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Preferred: 1–2+ years of backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript and hands-on SQL database experience, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Preferred: experience with EHRs, EMRs, FHIR, HL7, and integrations in logistics, field services, or other operations-heavy domains.
- Preferred: experience with EDI, ERP, WMS, POS, or similar systems; data integrity and security; monitoring and alerting; CI/CD, DevOps practices, and build systems.
- Preferred familiarity with ExpressJS, GraphQL, React, React Native, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Datadog.
