Senior Software Engineer - tvOS
Warner Bros. DiscoveryResponsibilities
- Build and release customer-facing features for CNN’s tvOS applications.
- Own complex technical work and contribute to application architecture, technical strategy, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Delivery, engineering, and other stakeholders to translate initiatives into scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to sprint planning and prioritize features, architectural improvements, and bug fixes.
- Document technical contributions and recommend improvements to software, applications, and developer experience.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers while reviewing designs, code quality, and team integration.
- Monitor and debug critical production issues through a rotating follow-the-sun support schedule.
Requirements
- 5+ years of programming experience using Swift or a similar language.
- Professional experience building consumer applications, including strong iOS and tvOS development knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Hands-on experience building dynamic customer-facing applications using APIs and working across frontend and backend systems.
- Experience with large-scale application architecture, design, scalability, testability, implementation, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of UIKit and experience with design and architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVP, and SOLID principles.
- Experience with test-driven development and associated frameworks.
- Knowledge of VOD or video playback on iOS/tvOS applications is preferred.
- SwiftUI experience is preferred.
- Experience with modern DevOps/SRE practices such as CI/CD, performance monitoring, and incident management.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithms, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience providing technical guidance and contributing to technical documentation.
