Responsibilities
- Deliver customer-facing features, architectural improvements, and bug fixes for CNN’s tvOS applications.
- Own complex technical work and contribute to application architecture, scalability, performance, testability, and technical strategy.
- Build, test, and release production-quality software using industry-standard development, build, source control, code review, and continuous integration tools.
- Partner with Product, Design, Delivery, and engineering stakeholders to translate initiatives into scalable technical solutions.
- Define and improve engineering standards, testing automation, release practices, and operational best practices.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, including reviewing designs, code quality, and team integration.
- Document technical contributions and recommend software or technical developments that improve the application and developer experience.
- Participate in sprint planning, prioritization, and rotating follow-the-sun support for monitoring and debugging critical production issues.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of programming experience using Swift or a similar language, with consumer application development experience required.
- Strong experience developing for iOS and tvOS, including knowledge of UIKit; SwiftUI experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience building dynamic customer-facing applications and working across front-end interfaces and back-end systems.
- Experience with large-scale application architecture, design, scalability, testability, implementation, and performance tuning.
- Experience with video-on-demand or video playback on iOS/tvOS applications is a plus.
- Experience with modern DevOps/SRE practices, performance monitoring, and incident management.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
- Experience with MVVM, MVP, SOLID principles, test-driven development, and associated frameworks.
- Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to provide technical guidance, contribute to documentation, and mentor less experienced engineers.
