Base Salary

$163k - $204k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test systems for employer and employee tax accounts, including registrations, authorizations, notices, filings, and tax setup.
  • Build automation, bots, data exchanges, and agency-event pipelines that maintain tax-agency access and keep account data, rates, and deposit schedules accurate.
  • Model jurisdiction-specific compliance rules into maintainable systems and own reliability, performance, and correctness.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Tax Operations, and PEO teams to prototype, iterate on, and launch solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and help the team solve complex technical problems at scale.
  • Build products that customers genuinely value.

Requirements

  • Typically 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience owning multi-quarter projects that solve complex engineering problems and deliver measurable customer impact at scale.
  • Experience building scalable solutions that eliminate customer pain, with strong ownership of reliability, performance, and correctness.
  • Experience designing data models and APIs for complex, rules-heavy domains such as compliance, tax, or payments.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools or systems to accelerate development, improve testing, and deliver new capabilities, with curiosity about emerging AI frameworks.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and communicate effectively across engineering teams and business stakeholders.
  • Experience in or interest in working with Ruby on Rails.
  • Ability to build well-structured, maintainable, well-documented code and appreciation for a collaborative, test-driven environment.
