Responsibilities

  • Develop and train vision-language-action, imitation-learning, and reinforcement-learning models for robot manipulation, locomotion, and navigation.
  • Build and optimize robot-learning data pipelines for teleoperation demonstrations, preprocessing, augmentation, quality filtering, and dataset versioning.
  • Train models on GPU clusters using distributed training, hyperparameter optimization, curriculum learning, and automated training infrastructure.
  • Deploy models to physical robots, evaluate them in real-world settings, and debug sim-to-real transfer issues.
  • Create evaluation frameworks covering task benchmarks, success rates, generalization, and regression detection.
  • Collaborate with robotics researchers, simulation engineers, and platform engineers across the model development lifecycle.
  • Write production-quality, well-tested Python code using NumPy, PyTorch, and JAX; review technical designs and mentor engineers.
  • Track advances in robot learning, robotics foundation models, and physical AI and contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to pass Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and 3+ years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with end-to-end robot learning, including imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or vision-language-action model training and deployment on physical robots.
  • Proficiency in Python and deep experience with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow for training and deploying deep-learning models.
  • Experience with robot-learning data pipelines, teleoperation data collection, preprocessing, augmentation, and data curation.
  • Hands-on experience deploying learned policies to physical robots, debugging sim-to-real transfer, and evaluating models in real-world settings.
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, robot-control interfaces, sensor processing, distributed GPU training, Azure Machine Learning, Kubernetes, or equivalent infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with current research and leading open- and closed-source models in robot learning, foundation models, and physical AI.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base-pay range is USD $102,100–$202,200 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of USD $133,800–$219,200 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
