Base Salary
$220k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, implementation, and delivery of major cloud infrastructure, workflow platform, and data platform initiatives through production release.
- Lead architecture and design reviews and influence technical decisions across the engineering team.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews, design documents, pairing, and example.
- Build and improve AI-coding tools, including custom plugins, MCP servers, and agents.
- Partner with scientists, bioinformaticians, R&D engineers, and the team lead on platform needs, roadmap, prioritization, and technical decisions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience across varied systems and problem types.
- Production experience designing for a major cloud platform, with AWS preferred and GCP or Azure accepted as equivalents.
- Production experience with Kubernetes or an equivalent container-orchestration platform, including cluster design, scheduling, networking, and workload patterns.
- Production experience with Terraform or an equivalent infrastructure-as-code tool, including shared modules and multi-environment deployments.
- Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Go, or Java, with the ability to learn new languages and use AI tooling effectively.
- Experience shipping software to internal or external end users and understanding product delivery realities.
- Previous engineering team leadership, mentorship of junior engineers, and ownership of multi-quarter technical initiatives.
- Experience working in fast-moving, startup-like environments with rapid, MVP-first delivery.
- Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Python, Go, Groovy, Terraform, Helm, Nextflow, WDL, Django, and React.
- Preferred experience in scientific or bioinformatics computing, LIMS or laboratory data systems, workflow orchestration, ETL or data pipelines, or HPC and batch-compute platforms; relevant examples include Airflow, Argo, Temporal, and Dagster.
