Base Salary
$180k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own production commerce services end-to-end, including merchant portals, partner integrations, marketplace platforms, billing engines, fulfillment applications, and support tooling.
- Deliver measurable improvements to merchant onboarding, payment reconciliation, service reliability, and customer-impacting downtime.
- Lead cross-functional launches by defining success criteria, rollout and rollback plans, coordination processes, and post-launch remediation.
- Build marketplace policy and control tooling for pricing, capacity allocation, prioritization, feature gating, experimentation, and mission-data simulation.
- Develop POS connectors, APIs, and data feeds with SLAs, backpressure handling, and schema and version migration strategies.
- Define SLOs and maintain monitoring, dashboards, alerting thresholds, runbooks, and on-call rotations.
- Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and establish durable abstractions across products.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and shipping production distributed systems and web applications.
- Demonstrated ownership across frontend, backend, and data or streaming pipelines.
- Production experience shipping transactional commerce, payments, billing, or marketplace systems at scale, or equivalent experience operating financial reconciliation and settlements pipelines.
- Strong skills in API design, ledger data modeling, eventual consistency, schema migrations, idempotency, and retry semantics.
- On-call and incident-leadership experience, including runbook authorship, root-cause analysis, and remediation work.
- Ability to define and achieve measurable operational and business outcomes and communicate trade-offs using data.
- Deep proficiency in Go, Python, or another scalable backend language.
- Experience with React or a similar framework for merchant-facing applications, plus Kafka, gRPC, PostgreSQL, AWS, Grafana, Honeycomb, and Bazel.
- Ability to support occasional off-hours launches and urgent incidents and travel regularly to partner sites, typically up to approximately 20%.
- Strong attention to correctness and financial edge cases, measurable ownership, accountability, and simplifying complex systems into durable abstractions.
