Responsibilities
- Define technical direction and architecture for a product area spanning multiple teams
- Independently solve significant, unique, high-ambiguity technical problems
- Partner with Staff and Principal engineers and Product/UX leadership to align the technical roadmap with business strategy
- Build formal cross-group networks and serve as a recognized technical authority beyond the immediate team
- Establish engineering standards adopted organization-wide within the domain
- Mentor Staff Engineers and contribute to technical leveling and promotion calibration
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience with Java and backend application development
- Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems at scale
- A demonstrated track record shaping architecture or technical direction across multiple teams
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and contributing to technical leveling decisions
- Identity and Access Management experience is preferred
- Professional hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Devin, Windsurf, or similar is preferred
