Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed-system components for high-volume data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Optimize system performance and implement scalability, performance, and load-testing requirements.
- Build resilient, fault-tolerant components using replication, failover, recovery-oriented design, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Develop testing, telemetry, dashboards, alarms, and alerting to identify service health and reliability issues.
- Design and test features for correctness, availability, data integrity, synchronization, and fault-injection scenarios.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, develop troubleshooting automation, and participate in operational support, incident response, and root cause investigations.
- Apply encryption, access management, security controls, and remediation activities.
- Develop and maintain automation and Infrastructure as Code for cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Follow change-management, compliance, security, and documentation requirements for cloud services.
- Plan and execute assigned work, collaborate across teams, investigate technical issues, share technical knowledge, and recommend improvements to engineering processes and tools.
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing highly distributed systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, availability, security, and operability.
- Experience building and testing high-scale services and data-processing components.
- Knowledge of resiliency patterns including redundancy, replication, failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented design.
- Experience with monitoring, telemetry, dashboards, alarms, alerting, troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Experience developing automation and Infrastructure as Code for cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of encryption, access management, security remediation, compliance, and operational standards.
- Ability to independently execute work, resolve standard and non-standard technical issues, collaborate across teams, and promote engineering best practices.
