Responsibilities
- Deliver GitLab Professional Services engagements covering installation, migration, training, and advisory services.
- Plan and execute GitLab deployments from single-node Omnibus installations to large reference architectures using infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code practices.
- Lead migrations from other systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed GitLab.
- Advise customers on practical implementation plans, reliability, security, and workflow improvements.
- Manage multiple customer engagements and provide technical leadership or oversight to other engineers.
- Partner with Engagement Managers, Project Managers, and GitLab product and engineering teams to improve delivery and share customer feedback.
- Mentor Associate and Intermediate Professional Services Engineers and help remove technical blockers.
Requirements
- Professional experience with one or more infrastructure-as-code or configuration-as-code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
- Professional experience with at least two cloud providers, such as AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience using, deploying, or configuring GitLab and understanding Git and source control workflows.
- Experience delivering customer-facing installation, migration, training, or advisory services.
- Ability to independently manage projects and lead or direct Professional Services Engineers on complex engagements.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including clear status reporting and consensus building.
- Ability to identify root causes, propose options and tradeoffs, drive issues to resolution, and balance multiple engagements.
- Ability to communicate, document decisions, and collaborate asynchronously across time zones in a fully remote organization.
- Must be located in Japan and have full working rights in Japan.
