Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend SaaS services using Go, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, and related language stacks.
- Design scalable systems with strong reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
- Build and operate Kafka-based event-processing services, including event consumption, validation, persistence, ordering, retries, idempotency, and failure recovery.
- Design service and product interfaces, third-party API integrations, authentication and authorization flows, and extensible integration patterns.
- Develop data models, schemas, indexes, and complex SQL queries while optimizing data-layer performance and reliability.
- Own complex initiatives end-to-end from discovery and requirements through delivery and production support.
- Lead technical design and architecture decisions across multiple systems and establish engineering standards and best practices.
- Diagnose production issues, improve product and service performance, and drive operational maturity through observability, incident response, on-call practices, and post-incident analysis.
- Conduct code reviews, write documentation, and build unit and integration test suites.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, coaching, and design and code review feedback.
- Develop roadmaps and prioritize technical debt while balancing feature delivery and platform health.
- Collaborate with software and production engineers and geographically distributed stakeholders across multiple time zones.
Requirements
- BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience, preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience building SaaS web applications using Go and Node.js; C# experience is nice to have.
- At least 8 years of experience working with continuous integration and build tools.
- Strong experience maintaining and extending existing codebases, integrating third-party APIs, implementing authentication and authorization, and developing asynchronous data flows.
- Strong experience publishing and consuming Kafka events and designing reliable event-driven workflows.
- Strong experience developing unit and integration tests and setting test strategy and coverage expectations.
- Strong AWS experience, including SQS, SNS, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Elasticsearch, Docker, and containers.
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including containerization, orchestration, and serverless deployment scenarios.
- Strong SQL programming and data-layer development experience, including schema design, query performance, indexing, and data reliability patterns.
- Expertise in version control, branching and release strategies, software engineering tooling, release and build processes, testing, and the software development lifecycle.
- Expertise debugging distributed systems using distributed tracing and leading root-cause analysis and preventative improvements.
- Experience architecting and designing systems from the ground up for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and leading technical alignment and delivery across teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain tradeoffs and align stakeholders.
- Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
