Base Salary
$167k - $218k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable backend systems to power the Chromatic product.
- Own projects from conception to completion, breaking down features into discrete units of work.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure feature continuity between Chromatic and Storybook.
- Continuously improve existing systems by identifying opportunities for optimization.
- Participate in the team's support rotation during business hours.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in frontend architecture and developer tooling.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience with modern Typescript and Elixir.
- Self-directed problem solver who can scope work and communicate progress effectively.
- Strong opinions, weakly held, with a growth mindset and ability to handle critique.
- Clear written and verbal communicator in a distributed, asynchronous environment.
- Focused executor who stays accountable to commitments and delivers consistent progress.
- Genuinely invested in developer experience and understanding frontend teams' pain points.
