Forward Deployed Engineer - Applied AI
WonderschoolResponsibilities
- Work directly with users and internal teams to identify high-leverage problems and ship product solutions.
- Write production code for approximately 50% of the role and ship weekly improvements across the customer journey.
- Build and deploy AI-powered tools that reduce manual effort and improve experiences for providers, parents, and government partners.
- Automate onboarding flows, proposal generation, reporting, and other operational workflows.
- Own the full loop from user discovery and solution design through coding, testing, deployment, and adoption monitoring.
- Collaborate with sales, onboarding, and account management teams to improve customer experiences and unlock growth.
- Prioritize work based on business impact and drive measurable improvements in conversion, retention, revenue, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience independently starting a company, building products that gained users, or generating revenue.
- Ability to talk with users regularly and translate insights into product decisions.
- Technical ability to ship production code independently, with experience in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Experience using AI/LLMs and developer tools such as Windsurf and Cursor.
- Business experience through consulting, P&L management, business school, or similar experience prioritizing by ROI.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity with high autonomy and ownership.
- Willingness to work in a high-trust, high-impact, in-person environment and travel as needed.
