Responsibilities
- Build the on-device runtime foundation for Siri’s App Intelligence across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS.
- Design interfaces that allow applications to expose capabilities to an AI assistant and iterate on them with app partners.
- Develop reliable, fast software for resource-constrained devices, optimizing latency, memory, and power consumption.
- Design tool- and function-calling interfaces, construct context, and validate outputs for LLM-driven features.
- Develop APIs and frameworks used across applications and platforms, including interface versioning and compatibility.
- Build or contribute to evaluation and telemetry infrastructure measuring the end-to-end quality of LLM-driven features.
- Drive complex feature designs and architectural decisions across technical teams.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and shipping production software.
- Strong proficiency in C++, Swift, or Objective-C and solid understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
- Strong understanding of operating-system internals, concurrency, multithreading, and memory management.
- Familiarity with LLMs and AI assistants, including agentic coding tools such as Claude Code and the ability to verify their output.
- Experience with system performance analysis and optimization techniques.
- Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, learn new technologies, communicate effectively, and drive alignment across technical teams.
- Preferred: proficiency with Swift and Xcode and experience building applications for Apple platforms.
- Preferred: experience designing efficient systems for resource-constrained environments and working on AI software runtimes, agent orchestration frameworks, voice assistants, or conversational AI systems.
- Preferred: experience building LLM-driven software features, API or framework development, and evaluation or telemetry infrastructure using tools such as Python and SQL.
- Preferred: experience leading complex feature design or driving cross-team architectural decisions.
