Base Salary
$145k - $175k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain core database technologies and automation frameworks for Capstone’s investment strategies.
- Develop a highly automated, self-service data platform for teams across the firm.
- Create scripts and Infrastructure as Code for repeatable deployments.
- Tune database performance through execution-plan analysis, indexing strategies, and query troubleshooting.
- Design and maintain database schemas, constraints, transactions, and versioning processes.
- Implement version control, CI/CD, automated deployments, and platform monitoring.
- Contribute to resilient, secure, high-performance mission-critical systems and collaborate across the firm.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience, ideally in financial-sector equity, credit, or derivatives trading environments.
- Strong enterprise database engineering experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).
- Development experience with SQL, PowerShell, and Python.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and scripting for repeatable deployments.
- Ability to analyze execution plans, manage indexing strategies, tune database performance, and troubleshoot query bottlenecks.
- Knowledge of database normalization, constraints, transactions, schema versioning, and database design and modeling.
- Experience with Git workflows and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience using monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana for performance and health checks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and documentation.
- Bonus: experience with Apache Iceberg on S3 and engines such as Spark or Trino; additional experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, MongoDB, or Cassandra; Kafka; enterprise infrastructure; Red Hat Linux; Windows Server; and Kubernetes.
