Responsibilities
- Oversee deployment, monitoring, reporting, patching, and compliance for the secure research computing environment.
- Manage AWS-based application stacks from the operating system through custom research applications.
- Apply cloud security designs and controls to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Manage continuous integration and deployment practices for AWS technologies.
- Plan, implement, operate, and expand the secure research computing environment.
- Improve application portfolios, software development practices, system architecture, processes, and costs.
- Provide technical support to end users and developers and communicate technical issues to executive audiences.
- Document technology, data protection, confidentiality, and data residency solutions.
- Serve as a technical liaison to internal and external clients and mentor junior staff.
- Participate in the software development lifecycle and an off-hours on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
- At least two years of experience in healthcare systems and authorities operations, such as FISMA, FedRAMP, or HIPAA-regulated environment architecture and design.
- Strong conceptual and practical understanding of cloud security controls, principles, and best practices.
- Experience with legal and regulatory standards including PCI, FedRAMP, CCPA, and GDPR as they apply to secure computing environments.
- Experience with AWS technologies and large-scale enterprise IT cloud projects.
- Hands-on experience with distributed resource management and virtualization technologies.
- Ability to work independently, make timely decisions, act as a trusted advisor, and support technical teams and clients.
- AWS certification, Harvard IT Academy foundational courses or an external equivalent, and experience with the listed additional technologies are preferred or advantageous.
