Backend Engineer (Multiple Positions)

Base Salary
$146k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and operate production backend services and APIs.
- Lead projects or meaningful project components from problem definition through deployment and iteration.
- Make tradeoffs involving scalability, performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and delivery speed.
- Improve system observability and operability through metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and incident learning.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Support, Customer Success, and engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
- Investigate production issues and turn operational lessons into lasting improvements.
- Contribute to inclusive collaboration, continuous improvement, and high-quality engineering.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production software professionally, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, and API design.
- Experience with a backend language such as Go, Python, Rust, or an equivalent language.
- Experience designing or contributing to reliable, observable, and maintainable services at growing scale.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical partners.
- Collaborative approach, ownership of work and downstream customer impact, and comfort with unfamiliar systems and ambiguous problems.
