Base Salary
$105k - $130k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend features and production REST APIs for the Risk Cloud platform using Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
- Write unit and integration tests with JUnit and contribute to a stable deployment lifecycle.
- Diagnose and resolve distributed backend service issues using logs, console data, request tracing, monitoring systems, and customer session analytics.
- Own a defined platform domain as a subject matter expert and design maintainable, scalable functionality.
- Participate in technical specification reviews, estimate work, and document API contracts, data models, and Confluence runbooks.
- Query and optimize PostgreSQL, Neo4j, and Redis data stores and trace data flows through RabbitMQ-based messaging infrastructure.
- Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and frontend developers during Agile sprints.
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and team culture.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional backend, platform, or systems engineering experience in a high-growth environment.
- Strong experience with Java, Kotlin, or a comparable enterprise JVM language and practical experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience building, owning, and maintaining production-grade REST APIs, including API versioning and contract stability.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including complex queries, schema migrations, and query performance analysis.
- Ability to independently debug complex distributed backend services using logs and monitoring systems such as Datadog.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, including effective prompting and verification of generated output.
- Experience or fluency with Go is preferred.
- Familiarity with Neo4j, RabbitMQ, or Redis is preferred.
- Experience building multi-tenant B2B SaaS applications is preferred.
- Understanding of event-driven architectures, microservices patterns, or containerized applications at production scale is preferred.
- Experience with security and code-quality tools such as GitLab Ultimate, SonarQube, and Wiz is expected.
