Responsibilities
- Design features and provide feedback on technical designs.
- Influence quality standards and identify, measure, and improve quality across entire solutions.
- Identify performance issues and optimize scalable solutions.
- Design, document, and implement clean and robust solutions to complex business problems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, business stakeholders, program managers, and product managers on technical solutions.
- Translate business needs into functional requirements and explain technical details to business stakeholders.
- Define, scope, and estimate work items.
- Drive design and code reviews and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, automation, scalability, and maintainability.
- Promote cloud-oriented solutions and implement and support monitoring, alerting, CI/CD pipelines, and team cloud infrastructure.
- Own systems and designs spanning multiple contributors and break work into tasks for more junior engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack.
- Excellent proficiency in an object-oriented language such as Java.
- Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and Docker.
- Experience with unit, integration, regression, and load test automation.
- Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD and Terraform.
- Experience with RESTful architecture, microservices, system design, architecture, scaling, and performance testing.
- Experience with cloud technologies, especially AWS.
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and cache-based low-latency system design.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, testing, operations, logging, and metrics tools.
- Familiarity with messaging technologies and patterns such as Kafka and SQS.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, engineering processes, business strategy, and cross-team technical leadership.
- Ability to design at the organization level and make technical decisions affecting priorities and long-term business objectives.
