Base Salary
$262k - $364k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define technical strategy for YouTube Shorts discovery models and systems to improve viewer satisfaction and viewer and creator growth.
- Provide technical leadership while designing, developing, testing, and deploying large-scale recommendation models and novel model architectures.
- Optimize ML infrastructure supporting recommendation systems.
- Partner with engineering, product, data science, and research teams to turn business goals into scalable technical solutions.
- Facilitate alignment across teams on goals, priorities, outcomes, and timelines.
- Mentor and influence junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and work with industry-scale ML infrastructure, including model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, and fine-tuning.
- 5 years of experience with software design and architecture and with testing and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience building and deploying production recommendation system models, including retrieval, prediction, ranking, and embedding models.
- Experience building architecture across different modeling domains.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of industry experience in AI/ML recommendations and the recommendations technology domain.
- Preferred: 5 years in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: 5 years with large-scale recommendation or search systems, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or another ML specialization.
