Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the clinical Android tablet application in Java and Kotlin.
- Integrate the Android tablet with proprietary TMS hardware through USB/serial communication, including RS232 and UART protocols.
- Build and maintain high-performance Java/C++ to TypeScript native bridges for real-time telemetry and sensor data.
- Manage complex application state with Redux Toolkit and preserve treatment-data consistency during hardware disconnections or backgrounding.
- Implement and debug binary protocols, including packet encoding and decoding, checksum validation, and serial command queuing.
- Develop safety interlock logic that monitors hardware telemetry and triggers software shutdowns for faults such as overvoltage and overheating.
- Ensure reliable collection and synchronization of clinical session data with AWS cloud backends through secure REST APIs.
- Integrate Android hardware capabilities including UVC cameras, gyroscopes, and accelerometers.
- Establish Android coding standards, mentor junior engineers, and review code for quality and maintainability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building production-grade Android applications in Java and Kotlin.
- Expert-level experience with React Native and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in Java, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Advanced knowledge of Redux Toolkit, including slices, async thunks, and middleware.
- Experience with USB/serial communication, UART, or similar low-level protocols.
- Comfort with ArrayBuffers, Uint8Array, hexadecimal conversions, and bitwise operations.
- Deep understanding of the React Native Bridge and/or JSI.
- Experience with Axios, JWT-based authentication, and TLS security.
- Hands-on experience shipping Android applications.
- Strong UI/UX instincts and attention to polished mobile experiences.
- Experience with USB hardware and/or camera integration is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-intensity, fast-changing startup environment.
