Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance mobile applications using React Native.
- Build scalable, reusable, and maintainable mobile components and contribute to internal libraries and platform capabilities.
- Optimize rendering, startup time, memory usage, responsiveness, large lists, application stability, and overall mobile performance.
- Investigate React Native framework and platform issues across iOS and Android, including writing native code and working with TurboModules when required.
- Use and optimize React Native libraries and architecture components including FlashList, React Native Reanimated, React Native Gesture Handler, and Expo.
- Develop tests, debug production and development issues, and improve application quality, reliability, and release quality.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and engineering teams on technical designs, dependencies, trade-offs, and customer experience.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to architecture decisions, technical discussions, and long-term mobile engineering strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of professional experience in software, frontend, or mobile engineering.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience building production applications with React Native.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript and a deep understanding of React Native fundamentals, mobile architecture, rendering, state management, and performance optimization.
- Experience troubleshooting complex React Native issues across JavaScript and native layers and optimizing render cycles, memory usage, and responsiveness.
- Experience with FlashList, React Native Reanimated, React Native Gesture Handler, Expo, and debugging or profiling tools such as Flipper, React DevTools, and Chrome DevTools.
- Familiarity with iOS and Android fundamentals and experience with TurboModules and native iOS or Android code.
- Preferred experience includes scaling consumer-facing mobile applications, using the New React Native Architecture including JSI and Fabric, developing native modules, integrating third-party native SDKs, and using Expo Application Services.
- Preferred experience includes mobile releases, observability, crash reporting, performance monitoring, analytics, high-scale consumer or e-commerce applications, and mentoring engineers.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, performance, quality, and customer-experience orientation.
