Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, monitor, and support software platforms and applications.
- Lead technical execution, architecture, design decisions, reference implementations, and technology selection within a single squad.
- Design and develop Big Data systems and processes in a Cloud environment.
- Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, Solution Architects, vendors, engineers, and dependent squads to plan work, manage dependencies, and influence roadmaps.
- Break down epics into stories, define acceptance criteria, contribute to backlog prioritization, and support agile delivery ceremonies.
- Establish and maintain standards for code quality, application performance, uptime, scale, security, privacy, reliability, and maintainability.
- Create automation, monitoring, instrumentation, proactive alerting, and support playbooks to improve delivery efficiency and production reliability.
- Troubleshoot bugs, security risks, performance issues, bottlenecks, and defects, and implement corrective solutions.
- Mentor engineers and peers, promote knowledge sharing and pair programming, and drive continuous improvement.
- Evaluate incoming technologies and solutions and make recommendations for modernization, simplification, and technical foundation improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, applicable certification, or equivalent experience.
- Typically 8+ years of professional experience and mastery of relevant technical or business skills.
- 5+ years designing Big Data systems and processes in a Cloud environment.
- Expertise in SQL and query optimization techniques.
- 5+ years of experience with programming languages.
- 3+ years of experience with Apache Spark and Python.
- Experience designing and developing an enterprise CI/CD process.
- Expertise in the data platform, including Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and SQLDB.
- Coding proficiency in a modern programming or scripting language.
- Knowledge of database systems, data design concepts, data architecture, SDLC, change management, privacy laws, and regulations.
- Experience automating repeatable tasks and creating logical flow diagrams.
- Strong project and time management, communication, collaboration, partner-management, decision-making, and process-improvement skills.
- Preferred experience with the Azure stack, including Logic and Function apps.
- Preferred exposure to wholesale or retail solutions and experience with data catalogs, business glossaries, data governance, metadata management, and data governance models.
