Responsibilities
- Own the abuse vision for Arena, determining detection and enforcement strategies.
- Design and operate detection systems for bots, sybils, and voting manipulation.
- Build humane enforcement primitives like rate limits and shadowbans.
- Detect and mitigate inference abuse at the platform layer.
- Implement abuse monitoring for new product launches.
- Prototype systems for high-severity harms, including legal reporting.
- Build internal tools for incident triage by policy and on-call teams.
- Collaborate with Security on account takeover and API abuse.
- Partner with policy and leadership on acceptable-use policies.
Requirements
- 6+ years of production software engineering experience.
- Experience in trust & safety, anti-abuse, or risk engineering.
- Strong SQL and data-analysis skills for pattern-finding.
- Adversarial mindset with investigative skills.
- High judgment on false-positive costs and user harm.
- Proficiency in a modern backend language like Node.js or Python.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-team alignment.
