Base Salary
$147k - $202k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust backend services and intuitive frontend interfaces for the Okta Identity Governance Federal product.
- Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure across high-compliance security baselines.
- Support operations transitioning into disconnected, air-gapped, and top-secret defense environments.
- Maintain security controls, audit readiness, and continuous monitoring for classified networks.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure deployments meet stringent government security standards.
- Drive improvements to technical debt, CI/CD, observability, documentation, reliability, and support processes.
- Partner with Product and Design to own desired customer outcomes.
- Invest in peer engineer growth and raise the team’s technical bar.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping enterprise cloud software.
- Hands-on coding experience at scale using Java, Python, or TypeScript, plus REST or gRPC APIs and UI automation such as Playwright or Selenium.
- Experience with CircleCI or equivalent CI/CD tooling, Docker, Kubernetes, and a major cloud platform.
- Ability to apply, evaluate, and adopt AI tooling across the software development lifecycle and establish AI-enabled engineering practices.
- Experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs with modern web technologies.
- Strong understanding of web authentication, authorization, and secure handling of sensitive user data.
- Deep proficiency building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.
- High proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript with the ability to ship robust frontends.
- Active U.S. TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Poly.
- Proven experience with Federal and DoD compliance frameworks, specifically FedRAMP and Impact Level 6 (IL6).
- Additional experience with restricted infrastructure, air-gapped architectures, zero-trust frameworks, secure transfer mechanisms, identity governance, IAM, SSO, SCIM, directory integration, privileged access, SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP is valued.
- Must be on U.S. soil and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance as required by U.S. Government contracts.
