Responsibilities
- Translate incomplete briefs into agreed outcomes, plans, dependency tracking, tradeoff explanations, and completed user-validated results.
- Build and maintain software and cloud or infrastructure API integrations with safe credential handling, pagination, retries, partial-failure handling, and repeatable execution.
- Transform billing, usage, and inventory data into validated outputs, including reconciliation of totals and periods and visibility into uncertain mappings.
- Extend inventory, network-policy, and capacity automation while preserving necessary human decisions and verifying operational results.
- Deliver version-controlled changes through CI, understand live state, test recovery, release safely, and diagnose failures across code, Linux, APIs, data, networking, and cloud.
- Own monitoring, actionable alerts, documentation, maintenance, and operational readiness of systems.
- Use coding agents for substantial engineering work while remaining accountable for design, implementation, testing, debugging, and outcomes.
Requirements
- Typically 5+ years of senior experience in software, infrastructure, platform, or automation engineering.
- Strong production Python, software design, testing, debugging, and API integration skills, with the ability to understand and improve unfamiliar code.
- Hands-on AWS experience and solid Linux and networking fundamentals across host, service, network, and cloud boundaries.
- Practical SQL and data-validation skills involving joins, units, periods, ownership mappings, and reconciliation.
- Experience with safe infrastructure delivery through IaC and CI, including state, drift, idempotency, dependencies, and rollback, using tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible.
- Demonstrated advanced coding-agent workflows, including planning and delegating substantial work, managing permissions and stop conditions, and independently verifying agent output.
- Autonomous problem solving, clear collaboration, willingness to challenge unsafe or unnecessarily complex approaches, and English proficiency at B2 or higher.
- Preferred experience includes cloud billing or FinOps tooling such as AWS CUR/FOCUS and Athena, NetBox or similar inventory integrations, network policies, flow monitoring, identity and access management, capacity tooling, additional cloud platforms, OpenNebula, Kubernetes, Go, or self-service systems.
