Responsibilities
- Develop firmware test strategies, test plans, and test cases based on product requirements and software architecture.
- Execute functional, integration, system, regression, and performance testing for embedded firmware products.
- Design and maintain automated test frameworks, test tools, and HIL, SIL, and simulation-based test environments.
- Collaborate with firmware teams during requirements, architecture, design, and code reviews.
- Identify, reproduce, document, and help resolve software defects and firmware anomalies.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD development pipelines and create test metrics, coverage reports, and quality dashboards.
- Support risk assessments, regulatory compliance, process improvements, and release-readiness activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on firmware testing and automation.
- Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams across locations and time zones.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a concentration in software, or equivalent.
- Typically 5+ years of experience in embedded software testing, firmware validation, test automation, or firmware development.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, RTOS, communication protocols, and hardware/software interactions.
- Experience debugging firmware with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, or similar tools.
- Experience developing automated test solutions using Python, C/C++, or similar programming languages.
- Familiarity with Git and defect tracking or requirements management tools such as Jira, Jama, and Q Test.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe development methodologies.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
