Base Salary

$141k - $226k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop Linux user-space daemons that orchestrate robot business use cases.
  • Develop software in C/C++ and Rust for resource-constrained embedded Linux environments, using Python for scripting and test automation.
  • Design performant inter-process communication between daemons and system boundaries.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers to tune drone behavior and contribute to advanced flying and maneuvering algorithms.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, complex logic, and autonomous behavior into middleware services.
  • Implement robotics use cases in ROS2 and custom robotics frameworks.
  • Develop unit tests, integration tests, test automation, and CI pipelines across the product lifecycle.
  • Prototype, develop, debug, and document middleware systems through design documents and technical specifications.
  • Mentor teammates and contribute to engineering excellence, knowledge sharing, and team culture.
  • Collaborate with distributed hardware, software, firmware, controls, manufacturing, and compliance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience building commercial products.
  • At least 5 years of experience with C/C++, Python, and/or Rust.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing commercial devices to market and supporting them post-release.
  • Strong experience developing Linux user-space daemons and service architectures.
  • Strong experience with performant inter-process communication, such as ZeroMQ, Zenoh, or D-Bus.
  • Experience building device lifecycle features such as firmware OTA updates, device pairing, or video pipeline management.
  • Strong systems architecture experience with complex, multi-service, interrelated systems.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, concurrency, and networking concepts.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, QA processes, and test automation frameworks.
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
  • Ability to work effectively with AI coding assistants, critically review generated code, explain implementation fundamentals, and apply testing and debugging strategies.
  • Experience with robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo is a plus.
  • Experience with SLAM/VIO, computer vision, control systems, or trajectory optimization is a plus.
  • Experience with MAVLink, PX4, ROS2 System Bus, GStreamer, RTSP, WebRTC, or Yocto is a plus.
