Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate multi-cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure, AKS, Google Cloud Platform, and GKE.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules and manage infrastructure state, configuration, dependencies, and lifecycle changes.
- Design and operate Kubernetes platforms, including networking, ingress, egress, routing, and policy enforcement.
- Implement Istio control-plane and Envoy data-plane capabilities across distributed clusters.
- Configure service-mesh traffic management, progressive delivery, failure isolation, mutual TLS, and authorization policies.
- Build Helm charts, Argo CD GitOps workflows, and Azure DevOps pipelines for consistent infrastructure and application delivery.
- Establish automated checks for configuration safety, policy compliance, test coverage, and deployment readiness.
- Define service-level indicators, service-level objectives, metrics, dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and operational processes.
- Diagnose distributed-system and networking issues using metrics, logs, traces, and system evidence.
- Participate in on-call operations, incident response, root-cause analyses, and post-incident reviews.
- Improve platform reliability through capacity planning, failure testing, rollback design, and operational automation.
- Author and review technical designs, clarify requirements, estimate work, communicate trade-offs, and remove dependencies.
- Collaborate with application engineering, security, SRE, cloud platform, and operations teams.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, documentation, technical talks, runbooks, coaching, and design reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in production cloud, platform, DevOps, or SRE environments.
- Experience with Azure AKS and GCP GKE managed Kubernetes services.
- Experience with Kubernetes networking, operations, ingress, egress, and security controls.
- Experience building developer platform abstractions.
- Experience operating Istio and Envoy in multi-cluster or multi-cloud environments.
- Experience with Terraform, infrastructure state management, and reusable modules.
- Experience with Helm application delivery and chart management.
- Experience scripting or programming in Go, Python, or Bash.
- Experience with on-call operations, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Preferred experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, or OpenTelemetry.
- Preferred knowledge of zero-trust architecture, mTLS, authorization policies, and IAM controls.
- Preferred familiarity with Azure and GCP networking, DNS, load balancing, and private connectivity.
- Preferred experience with Argo CD or equivalent GitOps tools and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred experience with progressive delivery, canary deployments, and disaster recovery.
- Preferred understanding of FedRAMP, SOC, and other regulated cloud standards.
- Preferred track record improving developer experience through automation and self-service infrastructure.
- Technical hiring, engineering mentorship, communication, trade-off management, risk management, and project estimation experience are preferred.
