$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Implement and optimize distributed-system components for scalability, high-volume data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, recovery-oriented principles, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Develop functional, performance, load, fault-injection, and brown-out tests.
- Build alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting systems to monitor component health and detect failures.
- Draft and execute runbooks, diagnose operational issues, participate in incident response and root-cause investigations, and support operational rotations.
- Create automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code tools for troubleshooting, maintenance, and cloud infrastructure management.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance standards, and change-management practices.
- Track timelines, prioritize work, collaborate across teams, and recommend process and workflow improvements.
Requirements
- Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing components of distributed systems.
- Experience with scalability, large-scale data processing, data replication and synchronization, and high-availability design.
- Experience implementing performance, load, functional, and reliability testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot system components, respond to incidents, write operational runbooks, and investigate root causes.
- Experience developing automation and Infrastructure as Code for cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of security controls such as encryption, access management, remediation, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating across teams and adapting to changing priorities.
