Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end features across web applications, backend services, and data platforms for Spotify’s global subscription business.
- Create secure internal products for launching, configuring, and managing Premium offers.
- Design and maintain backend services for subscriptions, prepaid products, pricing, promotions, and offer lifecycles.
- Develop GraphQL and gRPC APIs connecting frontend applications with distributed platform services.
- Design PostgreSQL schemas, implement migrations, and optimize application performance.
- Build secure, reliable, auditable systems supporting financial operations and SOX-compliant approval workflows.
- Contribute to shared platform capabilities, developer experience, technical design, architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting service reliability and availability.
Requirements
- Experience building and delivering production software across frontend and backend technologies.
- Experience developing scalable backend services using modern Java; Java 17+ experience is a plus.
- Experience building modern web applications with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
- Experience designing or consuming GraphQL APIs.
- Experience with gRPC services and Protocol Buffers, or interest in developing distributed-systems expertise.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
- Ability to write reliable, maintainable, and well-tested software.
- Experience with tools such as jOOQ, Flyway, Apollo GraphQL, DataLoader, Styled Components, Storybook, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS, Material UI, or similar technologies is beneficial.
- Experience with commerce platforms, subscription products, pricing systems, distributed systems, or large-scale platform modernization is beneficial.
