Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, integration, standardization, and deployment of end-to-end AI solutions for healthcare applications.
  • Apply machine learning techniques including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and large language models.
  • Establish evaluation methodologies and performance metrics for AI effectiveness, usability, and real-world healthcare impact.
  • Engineer and maintain tools, software components, testing processes, and associated automated release pipelines.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, cost management, and production monitoring of services and deployed models.
  • Develop AI engineering, data engineering, MLOps, quality, verification, validation, and risk-mitigation practices for regulated digital health products.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, designers, product managers, IT professionals, and external partners to assess needs, workflows, requirements, and feasibility.
  • Provide consultation, training, technical reporting, and explanations of complex findings to clinical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to the AI enablement team.
  • Contribute to new AI methods and technologies for healthcare.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field with 4 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree in one of these areas with 6 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience applying AI and machine learning in production healthcare environments or similarly regulated or technology-focused industries.
  • Demonstrated leadership managing complex projects and leading technical or quantitative teams in regulated environments.
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, software development tools, AI/ML techniques, and frameworks.
  • Experience working with large, complex, heterogeneous datasets, preferably healthcare data.
  • Knowledge of data engineering, data science, AI engineering, MLOps, quality engineering, regulatory standards, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience creating risk management files and verification and validation strategies for digital health technology products.
  • Preferred expertise with deep learning, natural language processing, generative AI, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows, electronic health records, medical terminologies, healthcare regulations, and industry standards.
  • Experience with user-centered design, human factors engineering, usability testing, expert reviews, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, interpersonal, education, mentoring, technical reporting, and time-management skills.
  • A Ph.D. or other doctorate is preferred.
