Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, integration, standardization, evaluation, and deployment of end-to-end AI/ML solutions for healthcare applications.
  • Analyze large and heterogeneous healthcare datasets, including patient records, medical imaging, and genomic information.
  • Engineer systems, software components, tools, and associated CI/CD pipelines that support consistent and automated AI solution development and releases.
  • Establish evaluation methodologies, performance metrics, verification strategies, validation strategies, and risk mitigation processes for AI and digital health technology products.
  • Apply quality system procedures, regulatory requirements, governance requirements, technical standards, and AI development and deployment best practices.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, UX designers, product managers, IT professionals, external partners, and clinical work units to assess feasibility and translate user needs into AI solution designs.
  • Provide consultative services, explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, and deliver training and education on AI tools and technologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and reviewers and provide technical leadership, review support, governance guidance, and training content.
  • Contribute to new AI methods and technologies that advance healthcare AI.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field with 4 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree in one of these areas with 6 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience applying AI and machine learning in production healthcare environments or similar regulated or technology-focused industries.
  • Experience with complex projects, large heterogeneous datasets, cloud infrastructure environments, software development tools, AI/ML techniques and frameworks, and relevant data engineering, data science, AI engineering, and MLOps practices.
  • Ability to lead complex technical assessments or projects, collaborate across diverse teams, communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and mentor less-experienced team members.
  • Preferred: Ph.D. or other doctorate; experience evaluating, developing, deploying, or supporting AI-enabled technologies; and experience leading technical or quantitative teams in regulated environments.
  • Preferred: expertise in deep learning, natural language processing, Generative AI, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras.
  • Preferred: healthcare-domain knowledge covering clinical workflows, electronic health records, medical terminologies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Preferred: systems or quality engineering, regulatory standards, compliance frameworks, risk management files, and verification and validation strategies for digital health products.
  • Preferred: user-centered design, human factors engineering, usability testing, expert reviews, and evaluation across AI product development.
