Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, integration, standardization, and deployment of end-to-end AI/ML solutions for healthcare applications.
  • Analyze complex healthcare data, including patient records, medical imaging, and genomic information, to develop clinically relevant AI solutions.
  • Own UX and frontend design through wireframing, prototyping, usability specifications, and production implementation with engineering teams.
  • Establish evaluation methodologies and performance metrics for AI effectiveness, usability, safety, and real-world clinical impact.
  • Engineer tools, systems, testing practices, and automated release processes for AI software solutions.
  • Develop and maintain quality system procedures, design requirements, verification and validation strategies, and risk mitigation practices for digital health products.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, consultation, and training to engineers, clinical teams, healthcare staff, and AI product teams.
  • Communicate technical and analytical findings clearly to clinical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to new healthcare AI methods and technologies.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field plus four years of experience, or a bachelor's degree plus six years of experience.
  • Extensive experience applying AI and machine learning in production healthcare environments or similarly regulated or technology-focused industries.
  • Expertise in AI/ML techniques and frameworks, including deep learning, natural language processing, and Generative AI.
  • Experience with Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras, and cloud infrastructure and software development tools.
  • Experience with large, complex, heterogeneous datasets and familiarity with data engineering, data science, AI engineering, and MLOps practices.
  • Experience managing complex projects, collaborating across diverse teams, communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and mentoring less-experienced team members.
  • Experience with wireframing, prototyping, user-centered design, human factors engineering, usability testing, accessibility, and consistent product design across releases.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows, electronic health records, medical terminologies, healthcare regulations, industry standards, quality engineering, compliance frameworks, and digital health verification and validation.
  • Experience creating risk management files and verification and validation strategies for digital health technology products is preferred.
  • A Ph.D. or other doctorate, regulated-environment technical team leadership, and expert usability review experience are preferred.
